In collaboration with Dirt Cheap Magazine, this past week saw the innaugural ‘A Show Called Wood’ party @ the Huddersfield store. With live music and artworks created by Rob Walker, Imran Jogee, Tom Senior, Oliver ‘Mon53′ Smith and Peter O’Toole, the event was a massive success… We would like to thank everyone involved and we look forward to more of the same in the coming months !

Feeling chipper ?
This is James aka Jim aka Dudley aka Boderick aka Rod aka Chip the Bar Guy… He used to work @ Simple just around the corner, we always used to drink in there but we don’t do that any more, the recent change in management has prompted us to look elsewhere, say NO to frauds people ! Anyway, Dudley now plies his trade in Cord, another Bar in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. Cord is actually our new favourite bar, alongside The Bay Horse, where they have a pool table and heated outside seating for the smokers… On a quite Monday late week, I noticed Dudley has been microchipped and tracked, possibly by his former employers who knows but what we do know is this is the shape of things to come, albeit a lot more visual than the tiny, invisible to the naked eye style chips in the pipeline… Watch out !

Beat The Recession !
As well as A Shop Called Wood, Manchester’s Northern Quarter is home to much culture… There is an array of indepedent boutiques, record shops, bars and clubs and if in need there are also quite a few seedy little spots for those without an internet connection, this being one of them… I had noticed this great piece of work just before Xmas and finally managed to get a picture the other day… I guess with the ‘current financial climate’ there are only so many ways to relieve that stress on a budget and this is certainly one of them… ‘Beat the recession, buy a DVD and have a good session’ ! Fantastic work right there !

A good friend of the shop, here is Manchester’s infamous answer to Mr. Motivator, come Summer look out for our man in his tracksuit and bum-bag (fanny pack!!!) and maybe even some Reebok kicks ! Here he is throwin’ up samples of the forthcoming Pump Omni Lite’s (Chinese New Year included) and Mile High Club Sir Jams… Legendary status !
Here is one of our favourite delivery guys… We liked him anyway, but without hesitation he jumped @ the chance to rep the store so for that he gets extra props. It seems like 90% of people these days are down with fame, not the old school dance show that is, more being seen on both photo and TV, which is perfect if you live in Manchester, the city is ‘camera’d uppp’… Say cheeeese !
