YMC Spring/Summer 12

This Spring/Summer sees a welcome return at Wood for London stalwarts YMC (You Must Create). As one of our original brands when we opened our doors in 2004, it’s naturally great to have them back on board with us in 2012 – available at our Huddersfield store and of course online…

The collection is high on quality, with the emphasis on simple, well executed pieces that will shine in seasons to come. The colour palette running throughout the collection is eye-catching yet classic, utilising warm Spring/Summer tones with a subtle injection of all over print patterning, along with staple pieces such as the patchwork check shirt (above) and nylon zip hooded jacket.

Universal Works Fall/Winter ’12 Preview

Hypebeast recently caught up with Universal Works designer and owner David Keyte for a look at what the brand has in store this Fall/Winter ’12. Endearingly, the primary influence in Keyte’s design stems from his father, perfectly exemplified by a Baker’s Jacket much like the one he sported to work when David was just a boy – although possibly not constructed from such premium fabrics!

The Hundreds Spring ’12 Drop 2

Arriving just prior to the weekend, Drop 2 from The Hundreds is now available to buy through our web-store. The second delivery from their Spring ’12 collection features stellar cut and sew pieces as well as the usual array of impressive graphic print t-shirts.

The Saguaro Jacket (also available in Navy) is a lightweight, waterproof number with brass snap closing buttons and four front pockets, two of which feature waterproof zipper covers for your peace of mind!

Look out for the Rumormill T-Shirt which is actually designed by Johnny Cupcakes! We have that one in both Athletic Heather and Turquoise (centre, below), although you’d better get your act together sharpish if you don’t want to miss out!

Universal Works

This Spring/Summer ’12 is our first season with Universal Works and boy are we pleased to have them on board with us here at Wood.

The collection features an assortment of carefully assembled shirts and jackets, as well as knitwear pieces constructed using lavish, premium fabrics that are built to last – and look on point in 5-10 years just as the season they dropped. In their own words…

“Universal Works – It’s about good honest menswear, it’s about quality garments with a great fit. There is no great vision or message, no target markets, just garments for everyone, clothing to look stylish in because you the wearer makes it so, clothing you want to wear, clothing you will look good in.

From a background of great British working clothes and outdoor clothes, we use honest, natural fabrics and yarns, often using up dead stock fabrics that would otherwise be wasted.”
