Happy 8th Anniversary To The Hundreds

The Hundreds are now 8 years old – which is quite a feat in this day and age! Our good friends and purveyors of all things ‘Cali’ dropped this extremely limited (just 100) t-shirt exclusively through their official web-store yesterday… which is now of course completely sold out. Congratulations to Bobby, Ben and the whole team – and of course who could forget the one and only Adam Bomb himself!

Kai and Sunny “The Flower Show”

Congratulations and good luck to Kai and Sunny with their new exhibition ‘The Flower Show’ which is now on display at StolenSpace Gallery in London. As well as their own brand Call Of The Wild, Kai and Sunny have worked on projects for some of the ALL of the industries’ most recognisable names including Apple, Alexander McQueen and of course Wood! If you didn’t know it was Kai and Sunny who designed our logo and store branding – including the artwork that you see on our website too. If you are in the London area anytime between now and the 26th June make sure you get down to StolenSpace and check it out!

“Having been commission by everyone from fashion and literary geniuses Alexander McQueen and David Mitchell to tech giants like Apple and Adobe, the highly acclaimed, award-winning illustration and design duo Kai and Sunny have risen to notoriety over the past few years thanks to their beautiful and highly-detailed nature-inspired designs. Now, in a new solo exhibition entitled “The Flower Show,” the pair will display a series of monotone works that explore the word “flower.” The large-scale, silkscreened images featured within the exhibit will also be accompanied by a limited-edition A3 boxset that contains five letter-pressed images from the show and a short story, entitled “The Gardener,” that was written by author David Mitchell exclusively for this project. Be sure to check out the exhibit, currently on display from now through June 26, 2011 at StolenSpace Gallery in London.”

Roy Ayers AND Pete Rock Show In Manchester

Manchester has been treated to a lot of dope live shows recently. I guess it makes up for all the shows that didn’t happen here back in the day when the US market was of pretty much sole importance especially in the Hip Hop scene. Well luckily for us, nowadays so many artists have bills to pay and no one is paying for music, so we get to see shows like this!

Two legendary artists in their own right with strong ties to each other – take to the same stage at Manchester’s number one music venue Band On The Wall for two nights Sunday 17th-18th July. Get those tickets bought early HERE!

Jason Singh on beatbox at the RIFF

A friend of ours here at Wood; Manchester, Jason Singh has an amazing talent for experimenting with music. From taking sounds and making them into patterns that are then used as graphics on clothes, to coaching singers how to control their breath to enhance their voice and of course Beatbox. This guy plays around with sounds and techniques that challenge listeners to expand their mind and open their ears. Check out his website www.thesingthing.com. Life and Music is all about experimentation and pushing boundaries as well as  thoughts whilst still having fun. We should all live every day like it is our last:)

The following clip was filmed in The Mehrangarh Fort , a  stunning venue for a festival - The Rajasthan International folk festival . Built five hundred years ago in Jodhpur,  Rajasthan.  Jodhpur is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, also known as The Blue City, we would highly recommend a visit, it will blow you away.
